The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the world’s largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons, recently released their 2015 annual report on plastic surgery. ASPS found that the number of buttock procedures performed continues to rise nationwide. Buttock augmentation with fat grafting was up 28 percent from 2014, and buttock lift and buttock implants were both up 26 percent.
Another interesting discovery is that men now make up more than 40 percent of breast reduction patients. More than 27,000 men opted for breast reduction surgery in 2015, a 5 percent increase over the previous year. Overall, male breast reduction procedures have increased 35 percent since 2000.
Breast reconstruction awareness seems to be on the rise, too. In what would appear to be a response to the ASPS’s Breast Reconstruction Awareness Campaign, there was a 4 percent increase in breast reconstruction procedures performed. Since 2000, the number of reconstruction procedures has risen 35 percent.
