Rarely a day goes by that Dr. Abhay Gupta and his team aren’t asked about Botox or fillers. Despite the popularity of these products, there are still a lot of misconceptions about them. You may be thinking about improving your appearance with fillers or Botox, but unsure whether they can actually help you achieve your goals.
To help clear up some of the confusion, Dr. Gupta reveals a few signs that you could benefit from treatment with Botox or dermal fillers.
The number one indication you may be well-suited to treatment with Botox and fillers is that you are just starting to notice signs of aging, like wrinkles and creases, that make you look a little older than you feel.
If your aging-related concerns are more moderate to severe in nature, especially if they involve loose, saggy skin, injectables won’t give you the results you desire. A surgical solution like facelift or neck lift may be the better option.
If you have lines or creases that are the result of making repeated facial expressions, Botox might be right for you. Botox is injected into lines that occur due to muscle contractions. It is perfectly suited to smoothing the vertical lines or furrows that develop between the eyebrows from frowning, or the tiny crinkles that appear around the outer edges of the eyes from smiling.
While Botox is great for lines of expression, fillers are ideal for creases and folds that are visible even when the muscles do not contract. A good example is nasolabial folds, which appear between the bottom of the nose and the corners of the mouth. Fillers are injected into these creases and folds to provide cushioning and fill in the lines for smoother, tighter-looking skin.
Not all fillers are intended exclusively for anti-aging purposes. Some are used to plump up features that are naturally thin or flat.
For example, if you envy people you see with a full, plump, pouty lips, you could possibly benefit from treatment with lip fillers, which are a quick and easy way to subtly enhance the lips.
