Nonsurgical Cosmetic Treatment Options – Gupta Plastic Surgery

It’s a New Year, which means it’s the perfect time to rejuvenate your look. At Gupta Plastic Surgery in San Diego, we offer a host of cosmetic surgery options to help you do just that. However, we also realize that many individuals who would like to reinvent their appearance may not be ready to pursue cosmetic surgery just yet. We offer a variety of nonsurgical cosmetic treatment options to help these individuals look their best and start the New Year off right. Our nonsurgical options are also great options for patients who would like to enhance the results of a cosmetic surgery procedure they’ve already undergone.

BOTOX Treatment – This popular cosmetic treatment is an FDA-approved muscle relaxant. When injected into the upper face and / or neck area, it temporarily suspends muscle movement in the treatment area, in turn smoothing out any overlying wrinkles. BOTOX treatment does not require any downtime, so you can have the procedure done on your lunch break and return to work immediately after! The aesthetic results of BOTOX treatment generally last three to four months.

Hyaluronic Acid – Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring protein that is essential for healthy, young-looking skin . It helps hydrate the skin by helping the cells retain moisture. HA-based injections, including Juvéderm, Restylane, Perlane and others, are an effective way to plump up areas of the skin that lack fullness. Thanks to their ability to “fill in” facial lines and wrinkles for a smoother look, HA-based injections are often referred to as “dermal fillers.” Dermal fillers can also be used to add volume to certain facial features, including the lips and cheeks. Results typically last between three and six months.

Radiesse – Radiesse is a calcium hydroxyapatite-based injectable used to build up the facial tissues and restore fullness to hollow areas of the face, thus improving the look of deeper facial folds and creases. Its cosmetic use is off-label, but the results are long-lasting and can be expected to last anywhere from 9 to 24 months. (Often, a second touch-up treatment is required to maintain the results.)

Micro-Fat Grafts – Thanks to advancements in fat grafting technology and techniques, natural fat grafting (fat transfer) is an effective way to sculpt one area of the body and enhance another. For instance, fat can be harvested from an area that has a sufficient amount of fat cells (e.g., the abdomen, hips or thighs), purified and then injected into an area of the face that requires enhancement, such as the lips. Facial fat grafting can also be used to restore volume to hollow-looking areas of the face, or as an alternative to synthetic dermal fillers.

Laser Skin Resurfacing – Laser skin resurfacing treatment is an effective way to improve the look of: fine lines or wrinkles; hyperpigmentation, including sun and liver spots; uneven skin tone; acne scars; and more. With laser skin resurfacing treatment, Dr. Gupta directs a laser beam over the face, removing the superficial layers of aged skin. The laser energy also penetrates deeper beneath the skin’s surface, heating the underlying tissue layers. This stimulates the body to produce more collagen, a protein vital to healthy skin. As the treatment area heals, new, healthier skin forms, giving you a glowing look throughout the face.

Bonus: Because constant sun exposure is one of the main culprits behind the development of visible signs of facial aging, undergoing laser skin resurfacing during the darker winter months provides an excellent opportunity to give your new, glowing facial skin a break from the harsh UV rays emitted by the sun. This New Year, rejuvenate the look of your face with a nonsurgical cosmetic treatment— and put off the need for cosmetic facial surgery a bit longer.

Fun Fact of the Month: The skin is the largest organ in the human body. Did you know that, when stretched out, the skin is on average over 21 square feet? It also comprises approximately 15 percent of your total bodyweight. Healthy skin is vital to a healthy body, so be sure to take care of it — for life!
