As skin ages, several factors such as sun exposure, gravity, and muscle motion can produce significant effects on our appearance.  The deeper layers of tissue responsible for a more youthful appearance of the skin start to break down, resulting in facial wrinkles, laugh lines, creases and hollows.  The injection of soft tissue fillers into these areas can fill out sunken areas of your face and provide definition to your cheeks and chin. Soft tissue fillers function by plumping up the creased and sunken areas of the face. This produces a smoother, more youthful appearance.  Fillers are also excellent at giving you fuller, more fashionable lips, or restoring your youthful full lips of the past.

 

The subcutaneous tissue below the skin supports against gravity, and provides shape, contour, and definition to the skin.  Injectable fillers and fat grafting are used to correct the effects of aging on this vital tissue layer, to make skin look younger, tighter, healthier and more defined. Soft tissue fillers may be injected as individual procedures or in conjunction with other facial procedures to further enhance the results.  For example, many deep surface creases and wrinkles are best treated with a combination of soft tissue fillers and resurfacing treatments such as chemical peels, laser or dermabrasion.  Dr. Gupta will discuss these options with you during your consultation and will recommend the best treatment plan for you based on your personal skin characteristics.

 

For more advanced facial aging changes, these non-surgical options may not be able to achieve the full desired result.  In this case, surgical options might be more appropriate to correct the aging changes.
